Child-Inclusive Mediation

Child-inclusive mediation can help parents focus on the needs and concerns of their children by providing kids the opportunity to share their perspectives in a confidential setting.

If both parents agree that such a process could be beneficial, I meet with children either one on one or in sibling groups and explore what is going on for them.  I discuss confidentiality and emphasize that they are not being asked to make choices or take sides, but that their feedback is valuable and may assist their parents in making good decisions.

After a child inclusive session, I schedule a follow up appointment with parents to review what the child has authorized me to share, and we determine if such information might inform the parenting plan or other child-related decisions.
